Procedure

–	Switch off ignition.

–	Connect up vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 5051- using diagnostic wire -VAS 5051/1-. Alternatively, connect up fault reader -V.A.G 1551- with diagnostic wire -VAG 1551/3-.

–	Switch on ignition.

Indicated on display:

V.A.G - SELF-DIAGNOSIS              HELP

1 - Rapid data transfer

Display alternates between “1...” and “2...”.

–	Use Print key to switch on printer (lamp in key lights).

–	Press key 1 for “Rapid data transfer”.

2 - Flash code output

Indicated on display:

Address word “00 - Automatic test sequence” can now be used to automatically interrogate all vehicle control units.

For further procedure refer to self-diagnosis of relevant control units.

The following notes relate to the fault reader -V.A.G 1551-.

Note!

t	Additional operating instructions can be called up by pressing HELP key.

t	Next step in program sequence can be selected by pressing → key.

t	Incorrect entry can be cancelled with C key.

If one of the following messages appears on the display, perform fault-finding in line with fault-finding program for diagnostic wire → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations.
