Checking operation of fresh air and air recirculation flap control motorV154
Checking operation of fresh air and air recirculation flap control motor -V154-
–  Remove the glove compartment if applicable: → General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr.68
–  Switch on ignition.
   
–  Set the switch for the fresh air blower -V2--G- to speed „3“.
–  Move the rotary air distribution control -B- to the „air distribution to dash panel vents“ position.
–  Fresh-air/air recirculation button -F- not pressed (fresh air mode, lamp in button does not light)
t  Air is drawn in via the fresh-air intake from the plenum chamber.
–  Press the fresh-air/air recirculation button -F- (air recirculation mode, lamp in button lights).
t  Air is drawn in from the area behind the glove compartment (air recirculation mode).

–  Set the rotary air distribution control -B- to the position „air distribution to windscreen“-D-.
t  The lamp in the fresh-air/air recirculation button -F- goes out, the fresh-air/air recirculation flap moves to the „fresh air mode“ position.
  Note
If operation is not OK, check the electronics in the heater control unit -J65- and actuation of the fresh air and air recirculation flap control motor -V154- → Chapter.
If operation of the fresh-air/air recirculation flap is OK and the windows mist up, check the following:
–  Contamination of dust and pollen filter → Chapter
–  Forced air extraction from passenger compartment → Chapter
–  Ingress of water into passenger compartment
–  Fresh-air intake from plenum chamber and plenum chamber water drain → Chapter
–  Seals between individual fresh-air intake components and vehicle for damage and leaks.
