Removing and installing shift unit (vehicles up to 11.2009) > < Removing and installing selector lever display illumination bulb L101 (vehicles from 11.2009 onwards)

Lubricate all bearings and moving surfaces with polycarbamide grease -G 052 142 A2-.
1 - Cable support bracket
q   Secures selector lever cable to gearbox
2 - Bolt
q   Secures cable support bracket to gearbox
q   2x
q   23 Nm
3 - Selector lever cable
q   Do not bend or kink
q   If the protective sleeve is damaged, the selector lever cable must be renewed
q   → Chapter „Checking and adjusting selector lever cable“
q   → Chapter „Removing and installing selector lever cable (vehicles up to 11.2009)“
q   Do not lubricate cable eye and ball socket
4 - Nut
q   Secures bracket to gearbox
q   2x
q   13 Nm
5 - Bracket
q   For selector lever cable
6 - Nut
q   Secures selector mechanism to body
q   4x
q   8 Nm
7 - Buffer stop for selector lever
q   Clipped onto selector mechanism
8 - Shift unit
q   → Chapter „Operating manual release for selector mechanism from position P (vehicles with fixed selector mechanism cover)“
q   → Chapter „Operating manual release for selector mechanism from position P (vehicles with selector lever boot, up to 11.2009)“
q   → Chapter „Removing and installing shift unit (vehicles up to 11.2009)“
q   Incorporates the following components: selector lever sensors control unit -J587- with selector lever -E313-, tiptronic switch -F189-, selector lever locked in position P switch -F319- and selector lever lock solenoid -N110- (do not touch these components)
q   Can be checked via Guided Fault Finding function → vehicle diagnostic tester
q   Selector lever sensors control unit -J587- with selector lever -E313-, tiptronic switch -F189-, selector lever locked in position P switch -F319- and selector lever lock solenoid -N110- can only be renewed together with shift unit as a complete unit → Chapter
9 - Detent spring

q   3.5 Nm
11 - Pivot pin
q   Secures selector lever cable to shift unit
12 - Bolt
q   Secures detent plate to selector mechanism
q   4x
q   3.5 Nm
13 - Detent plate
14 - Cover
q   For shift unit
q   With glued-on gasket
15 - Nut
q   For securing cover to selector mechanism
q   4x
q   Self-locking
q   Renew
q   9 Nm
16 - Retaining clip
q   Secures selector lever cable to shift unit
