Removing and installing sender wheel > < Crankshaft

Secure engine to repair stand using engine and gearbox support -VAS 6095- when dismantling/assembling engine → Chapter.
   
1 - Cylinder block
2 - Bearing shell for cylinder block
q   With oil groove
q   Do not interchange used bearing shells (mark positions)
q   Identification of crankshaft bearing shells → Chapter
3 - Crankshaft
q   After removing, place it down so that the sender wheel -item 5- is not damaged and the crankshaft does not rest on the sender wheel
q   If crankshaft is renewed, new bearing shells must be assigned to bearing caps → Chapter
q   Axial clearance → Chapter
q   Radial clearance → Chapter
q   Do not rotate the crankshaft when checking the radial clearance
q   Crankshaft dimensions → Chapter
4 - Bearing shell for bearing cap
q   Without oil groove
q   Do not interchange used bearing shells (mark positions)
q   Classification of crankshaft bearing shells → Chapter
5 - Bolt
q   Renew
q   Tightening sequence → Fig.
6 - Bearing cap
q   Bearing cap 1: Pulley end
q   Bearing shell retaining lugs (cylinder block/bearing cap) must be on the same side
7 - Bolt
q   10 Nm + turn 90° further
q   Renew
q   Sender wheel must be renewed if bolts are loosened → Chapter
8 - Sender wheel
q   For engine speed sender -G28-
q   Can only be installed in one position. Holes are off-set.
q   Sender wheel must be renewed if bolts are loosened
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
9 - Thrust washers
q   For bearing No. 3
10 - Bolt
q   Renew
q   Tightening sequence → Fig.

   
Crankshaft - tightening sequence
–  Tighten crankshaft bolts in the sequence -1 ... 5- as follows:
1.  Screw in bolts -1 ... 10- and -arrows- hand-tight.
2.  Initially tighten bolts -1 ... 10- to 65 Nm.
3.  Turn bolts -1 ... 10- 90° further using a rigid wrench.
4.  Pre-tighten bolts -arrows- to 20 Nm.
5.  Turn bolts -arrows- 90° further using a rigid wrench.
