  Note
Mark the rotation direction of the toothed belt with chalk or felt-tip pen before removing. If the belt runs in the opposite direction when it is refitted, this can cause breakage.
1 - Toothed belt cover (bottom)
q   Unbolt crankshaft pulley to remove
2 - 10 Nm
q   Apply locking fluid when fitting
q   Locking fluid → Parts catalogue
3 - Toothed belt cover (centre)
4 - Engine support
q   Removing ⇒ Removing and installing toothed belt → Chapter
5 - 45 Nm
q   Observe correct tightening sequence → Fig.
6 - Toothed belt cover (top)

7 - 10 Nm
q   Apply locking fluid when fitting

q   Before removing, mark direction of rotation with chalk or felt-tip pen

26 - Crankshaft sprocket
q   Contact surface between sprocket and crankshaft must be free of oil
q   Can only be installed in one position
27 - 90 Nm + 90° (1/4 turn) further
q   Renew
q   Do not lubricate with oil
q   Use counterhold 3415 when slackening off and tightening
q   Attaching counterhold tool 3415 → Fig.

Removing and installing toothed belt cover (top)
–  Remove the bolts -arrows- and lift off toothed belt cover.
–  Engage carefully in toothed belt cover (centre) when installing.

Loosening camshaft sprocket
–  Use counterhold 3036 to loosen and tighten the central bolt.

Detaching camshaft sprocket
–  Use two-arm puller -T40001- with claws T400001/6 and T400001/7 to detach camshaft sprocket.

Installation position of toothed belt tensioning roller
Retaining lug -arrow- must engage in slot on cylinder head.
  N15-10086
Tightening sequence for retaining plate
–  Tighten retaining plate bolts to 9 Nm in the sequence -1 ... 5-.

Tightening sequence for retaining plate
–  First tighten bolts -1- to 40 Nm.
–  Then tighten bolt -2- to 15 Nm.

Removing and installing crankshaft sprocket
–  Use counterhold 3415 to loosen and tighten the central bolt.

Installing engine support
–  Initially screw bolts -arrows- in hand-tight.
–  Then tighten bolts -arrows- to 45 Nm.
