Removing and installing poly V-belt > < Cylinder block (pulley end)

Before removing, mark direction of rotation of poly V-belt with chalk or felt-tip pen. If the belt runs in the opposite direction when it is refitted, this can cause breakage. Ensure that the belt is properly seated in the pulleys when installing.
   
1 - Pulley
q   For poly V-belt
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
2 - Special bolt
q   20 Nm + 90°
Renew → Parts catalogue
3 - 23 Nm
4 - Tensioner for poly V-belt
q   Pivot with open-end spanner to slacken poly V-belt
q   Secure tensioner in position using locking pin -T10060A-
5 - Bracket for ancillaries
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
6 - 23 Nm
7 - 23 Nm
8 - Alternator
q   Removing and installing → Electrical system; Repair group 27
q   To facilitate attachment of alternator, knock back threaded bushes for alternator securing bolts slightly
9 - Bolt
q   Apply locking fluid when fitting
q   Locking fluid → Parts catalogue
q   Observe correct tightening sequence → Chapter
10 - Bush
q   2x
11 - 25 Nm
12 - Air conditioner compressor

13 - Poly V-belt

q   Check for wear
q   Do not kink

Tightening sequence on bracket for ancillaries
1.  Screw in bolts -1 ... 6- hand-tight.
2.  Tighten bolts -1 ... 6- to 40 Nm.
