Test sequence

Toothed belt in position and tensioned.

Remove engine cover panel

Turn quick-release fastener
-item 1-
90° anti-clockwise.
–
Raise retaining tabs
-arrows-
and detach top toothed belt cover.
–
Turn crankshaft at central bolt on crankshaft sprocket in direction of engine rotation to TDC mark for No. 1 cylinder

At the same time the marking on front of the camshaft sprocket must align with the marking on the rear toothed belt cover

Rotate crankshaft one turn further if necessary.

Push in toothed belt with firm thumb pressure.
l
The pointer

should move sideways.
–
Release thumb pressure on toothed belt.
l
Tensioner should return to initial position. (Pointer back in line with notch
-1-
).
Note
Use a mirror to check.
