t  Support bracket -10 - 222 A-

Procedure
l  Tightening torques → Chapter „Assembly mountings - exploded view“
–  Remove engine cover panel -arrows-.

–  Remove bolt -1-.
–  Push filler pipe with filler neck -2- for washer fluid reservoir to side.
  Note
t  Disregard -item 3-.
t  For illustration purposes, the installation position is shown with the fuel filter removed.

–  Move clear air hoses at bracket -2-.
–  Pull off bracket for fuel lines upwards -arrow- and move clear to one side.
–  Unplug electrical connector -3-.
–  Remove bolts -1-, detach bracket and move clear to one side.

–  Loosen bolt -1-.
–  Remove bolt -2- and nut -3-.
–  Detach hose retainer -4- from fuel filter, move fuel filter -7- clear to one side with fuel hoses -5- and -6- connected.

–  Remove air cleaner housing → Rep. gr.23.

–  Remove battery → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27.

–  Remove bolts -arrows- and take out battery tray -1-.

–  Press release tabs and disconnect crankcase breather hose -1-.
–  Move clear vacuum hoses -arrows-.
–  Remove bolt -2-, swivel air hose with connection to rear and detach from turbocharger.

–  Set up support bracket -10 - 222 A- with adapters -10 - 222 A /3- on bolted flanges of wing panels.
–  Attach hooks of spindles to engine lifting eyes.
–  Take up weight of engine/gearbox assembly evenly with both spindles (do not raise assembly).

–  Remove bolts -arrows- for engine mounting one by one and renew (if they were not renewed when installing engine).
–  Initially fit bolts hand-tight.

Vehicles with manual gearbox:
–  Remove bolts -arrows- securing gearbox mounting.

Vehicles with 7-speed dual clutch gearbox 0AM:
–  Remove bolts -arrows- securing gearbox mounting.
All vehicles (continued):
–  Renew bolts for gearbox mounting (if not already done when installing engine) and initially fit bolts hand-tight.
–  Slacken bolts on left and right-hand support arms by about two turns each.

–  Using assembly lever, adjust engine/gearbox assembly between engine mounting and support arm -1- until specifications listed below are attained:
l  There must be a distance of -a- = 13.5 mm between engine support -2- and longitudinal member (right-side).
l  The side of the engine support casting -2- must be aligned parallel to the support arm -1- (distance -x- is the same on both sides).
  Note
Distance -a- = 13.5 mm can also be checked with a metal rod of suitable size, or similar.

–  Tighten bolts for engine mounting
Vehicles with manual gearbox:
–  Ensure that the edges of the support arm -2- (on the gearbox assembly mounting) and gearbox support -1- are parallel.
l  Dimension -x- must be identical on both sides of mounting.

Vehicles with 7-speed dual clutch gearbox 0AM:
–  Ensure that the edges of the support arm -2- (on the gearbox assembly mounting) and gearbox support -1- are parallel.
l  Dimension -x- must be identical on both sides.
All vehicles (continued):
–  Tighten bolts for gearbox mounting.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:
–  Install intake connecting pipe → Chapter.
–  Install battery mounting and battery → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27.
–  Install air cleaner housing → Rep. gr.23.
–  Install fuel filter → Rep. gr.20.
–  Install pressure differential sender -G505- → Rep. gr.23.
–  Install filler pipe with filler neck for washer fluid reservoir → Electrical system; Rep. gr.92.
