1 - Toothed belt
q   Before removing, mark direction of rotation with chalk or felt-tip pen
q   Check for wear
q   Removing → Chapter
q   Installing (adjusting valve timing) → Anchor
2 - Idler roller
3 - Nut
q   20 Nm
4 - Tensioning roller
q   Different versions → Fig.
5 - Nut
q   20 Nm + turn 45° further
6 - Bolt
q   20 Nm
7 - Idler roller
8 - Bolt
q   25 Nm
9 - Camshaft sprocket

q   Slacken and tighten with counterhold tool -T10051-
q   100 Nm
11 - Camshaft hub
q   Removing and installing → Chapter „Removing and installing camshafts“

14 - Bolt
q   9 Nm
15 - High-pressure pump hub
q   Removing and installing → Rep. gr.23
16 - Nut
q   Tightening torque → Rep. gr.23
17 - High-pressure pump sprocket
18 - Bolt
q   Tightening torque → Rep. gr.23
19 - Idler roller
20 - Bolt
q   Renew
q   50 Nm + turn 90° further
21 - O-ring
q   Renew
22 - Coolant pump
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
23 - Bolt
q   Tightening torque → Item
24 - Crankshaft sprocket
q   Contact surface between sprocket and crankshaft must be free of oil
q   Can only be installed in one position
25 - Bolt
q   Renew
q   Slacken and tighten with counterhold tool -3415-
q   Do not additionally oil threads and shoulder
q   120 Nm + turn 90° further

   
Toothed belt cover (bottom and centre) - tightening torque
–  Tighten bolts -arrows- to 9 Nm.

Different tensioning roller versions
Depending on version, two different types of tensioning roller may have been installed. It is possible to switch between versions. When making adjustments, check which type of tensioning roller is installed.
Tensioning roller version -A-:
t  Use locking tool -T10265- for installation.
t  Make sure tensioning roller is positioned correctly in toothed belt cover.
t  To tension toothed belt, turn eccentric adjuster clockwise -arrow-.
Tensioning roller version -B-:
t  No locking tool is necessary for installation.
t  The tensioning roller is not located in the toothed belt cover.
t  To tension toothed belt, turn eccentric adjuster anticlockwise -arrow-.
