Removing and installing coolant pipe (left-side) Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Removal lever -80 - 200-

t  Hose clamps for hoses up to 25 mm -3094-

t  Drip tray for workshop hoist -VAS 6208-

t  Hose clip pliers -VAS 6362-

Removing –  Remove noise insulation -1- → Rep. gr.50.

–  Remove air cleaner housing → Rep. gr.23.

Vehicles with dual clutch gearbox: –  Clamp off coolant hoses using hose clamps -3094-, release hose clips -arrows- and disconnect coolant hoses from gear oil cooler.

All vehicles (continued):   WARNING Risk of injury as the radiator fans may start up automatically. Even when the ignition is switched off, the radiator fans can start up without warning due to accumulated heat in the engine compartment, etc. –  Move clear wiring harnesses -arrows- and electrical connector -1- at bracket.

–  Remove bolts -2, 5- and -arrows-. –  Using removal lever -80 - 200-, move clear electrical wiring and hoses at air pipe (left-side). –  Loosen hose clip -3- and detach air pipe (left-side). –  Place drip tray for workshop hoist -VAS 6208- beneath engine. –  Clamp off coolant hoses using hose clamps -3094-, release hose clips -1- and -4- and disconnect coolant hoses from coolant pipe (left-side). –  Detach coolant pipe (left-side). Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following: l  Tightening torque → Chapter „Coolant pipes, coolant temperature senders, pump for exhaust gas recirculation cooler - exploded view“   Note Secure all hose connections with the correct type of hose clips (same as original equipment) → Electronic parts catalogue. –  Install air pipe (left-side) → Chapter. –  Install air cleaner housing → Rep. gr.23. –  Install noise insulation → Rep. gr.50. –  Fill up with coolant → Anchor.
