Removing and installing thermostat Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Drip tray for workshop hoist -VAS 6208-

t  Hose clip pliers -VAS 6362-

Removing –  Drain off coolant → Chapter. –  Detach coolant hose -2- from hose connection. –  Unplug electrical connector -1- at radiator outlet coolant temperature sender -G83-. –  Unscrew bolts -arrows- and remove hose connection. –  Turn thermostat clockwise through approx. 90°. –  Take thermostat out of hose connection. –  Remove O-ring. Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:   Note Renew O-ring. –  Clean and smoothen sealing surface for O-ring as required.

–  Insert thermostat -3- with new O-ring -2- into hose connection -1-. l  When inserting, the cross-piece on the thermostat should be horizontal as shown in the illustration.

–  Lubricate O-ring -2- with coolant. –  Turn thermostat anti-clockwise -arrow- through approx. 90°. –  Fill cooling system → Anchor. Tightening torque
