Checking exhaust gas recirculation change-over
Checking exhaust gas recirculation change-over
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Hand-operated vacuum pump with attachments -V.A.G 1390- or hand-operated vacuum pump -VAS 6213-

Procedure
l  Final control diagnosis carried out.
–  Lift engine cover panel at sides -arrows 1- and pull off towards front -arrow 2-.
  A10-1855
–  Detach vacuum hose at vacuum unit for exhaust gas recirculation -1-.
–  Connect hand-operated vacuum pump -V.A.G 1390- or -VAS 6213- to valve.
–  Use hand-operated vacuum pump to generate vacuum.
l  The linkage of the exhaust gas recirculation change-over should move -arrow-.
If the linkage does not move or only moves jerkily:
t  The vacuum unit is defective
t  If the change-over flap for exhaust gas recirculation is sticking
