Adapting kick-down function - vehicles with automatic gearbox or dual clutch gearbox
  Note
If the accelerator pedal module or engine control unit is renewed on vehicles with an automatic gearbox or dual clutch gearbox, the kick-down function must be adapted.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 5051B-
  W00-10343
Procedure
l  Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 5051B- connected to diagnostic connection -arrow-.
l  No faults stored in event memory.
l  Engine stopped, ignition switched on

Display on -VAS 5051B-:
–  Select Vehicle self-diagnosis from the list -item 1-.

Display on -VAS 5051B-:
–  From menu -1-, select vehicle system „Engine electronics“ and press → key to advance.

Display on -VAS 5051B-:
–  From menu -1-, select function „Basic setting“ and press → key to advance.

Display on -VAS 5051B-:
–  Press buttons 63 on keypad -1- to select „Display group 063“ and confirm entry by pressing Q key.

–  Activate basic setting by touching Activate key -A-.
Display on -VAS 5051B-:
–  Check display in zones -3- and -4-.
Display shows: „Operate kickdown“
–  Fully depress accelerator pedal beyond kickdown point and keep it pressed.
Display shows: „Kickdown ADP runs“
–  Check the readout in display zones -3- and -4-.
Display shows: „Kickdown ADP OK“
  Note
t  If display shows „Kickdown ERROR“: interrogate event memory.
t  „ERROR“ is indicated, for example, if the accelerator pedal is not pressed immediately after requested by the tester or if the accelerator pedal is released before the adaption process is finished. Exit function „Basic setting“ by pressing ← key and restart adaption.
–  Exit function „Basic setting“ by pressing the ← key.
–  Select function „End output“.
–  Switch off ignition and unplug diagnostic connector.
