Expansion Valve: Service and Repair

Expansion Valve

‹› After switching off the A/C compressor on this vehicle, it may take a long time until the pressure on the high pressure side (the expansion valve is

cold and the pressure on the low pressure side increases quickly after switching off, the expansion valve closes and the refrigerant can flow slowly
on the low pressure side.

Removing

-

Discharge refrigerant circuit. Refrigerant R134a - Servicing

-

Disconnect refrigerant lines from expansion valve. Refer to=> [ Refrigerant Lines, Disconnecting from Expansion Valve ] See: Service and Repair
.

Remove bolts - A - (tightening torque 10 Nm).

Pull expansion valve - B - out of heat protection insulation - C -.

‹› Seal all open lines and connections on evaporator with suitable caps (avoid dirt and moisture from entering the system).

Installing

Installation is carried out in the reverse order, when doing this note the following:

Replace O-rings seals - D - and - E - => [ Refrigerant Circuit O-Ring Seals ] See: Description and Operation/Refrigerant Circuit O-Ring Seals

Make sure that O-rings - D - and - E - are properly seated on connecting pipes to evaporator - F - and -  G -.

‹› Expansion valve is available in different versions (same housing but a different control characteristic), therefore ensure the exact allocation.
