Remove the rubber seal - 1 - and the plenum chamber cover - 2 -.

The Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) J220 is secured via a protective housing - 1 - and shear bolts - 2 -

CAUTION:

-

To prevent damage (burning) to the wiring and harness connections, insulation and the electronic control module, perform the following
work steps exactly! Observe operating instructions for the heat gun.

The heat gun, shear bolts, and parts of the protective housing will become extremely hot. Use extreme caution when working with or
handling these parts to avoid personal injury.

Using a Heat gun set at its lowest setting, heat the shear bolt for approx. 20 to 25 seconds.

Remove the shear bolt with locking pliers. Discard the used shear bolts.

Repeat the previous steps for the second shear bolt.

Remove the protective housing from the Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) J220.

Remove the front electrical harness connector - 1 - from the Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) J220.

Remove the Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) J220 from the retainer - arrow -.

-

Remove the rear electrical harness connector from the Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) J220.

Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) J220 installation

Installation is performed in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

The Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) J220 must be installed with the protective housing.
