Checking mounting components following an accident
Checking mounting components following an accident
It is essential to always renew all damaged mounting components - it is not permissible to »reshape« or rework damaged components.
The following components must be checked after an airbag has been triggered.
If front passenger's airbag has been triggered:
t  Central tube for dash panel; it must be possible to install supports for front passenger's airbag and front passenger's airbag so they are free of stress. Otherwise, central tube also has to be renewed.
t  Check glove box for damage. If it is damaged, it has to be renewed.
If driver's airbag has been triggered:
t  Steering wheel: Remove steering wheel and place it on a level surface (resting on rim). The rim must make contact all around. If it does not, the steering wheel has to be renewed.
t  Check steering wheel for traces of explosive material (dust). If you find traces of dust steering wheel must be renewed.
