| 1 - | Side airbag (driver side/front passenger side) |
| t | Removing |
| – | Disconnect battery earth strap. |
| – | Remove seat → Chapter. |
| – | Attach seat repair stand -VAS 6136- to engine and gearbox support -VAS 6095-. |
| – | Attach front seat to seat repair stand -VAS 6136-. |
| – | Remove backrest cover panel → Chapter. |
| – | Unfasten sleeve -4-. |
| – | Lift out wiring harness -5-. |
| – | Unscrew nuts -2- (2x) of side airbag -1-. |
| – | Prise out metal tab -3-. |
| – | Detach side airbag -1-. |
| – | Detach clip -6- and carefully pull out wiring harness -5-. |
| t | Installing |
| – | Install in reverse order of removal. |
| – | Make sure wiring harness -5- is routed between seat frame and plastic guide -7- and that wires are not subject to strain. |
| – | Secure clip -6-. |
| – | Switch on ignition. |

| – | Connect battery earth strap. |
| 2 - | Nuts (2x) |
| q | Tightening torque: 5 Nm |
| q | Renew |
| 3 - | Metal tab |
| 4 - | Sleeve |
| 5 - | Wiring harness |
| 6 - | Clip |
| 7 - | Plastic guide |
Note| t | Observe measures to be taken after connecting battery → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27. |
| t | If the airbag warning lamp -K75- indicates a fault following installation, use the vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 5051 A- to interrogate, erase and then re-interrogate the event memory. |
