Removing and installing brake pads > < Rear brakes C38

Rear brakes with automatic adjustment
  Note
Install all parts supplied in repair kit.
   
1 - Brake disc
q   Always renew on both sides of axle
q   Detach brake caliper prior to removing
q   Only dress evenly, on both sides, starting from thickness when new
q   Allocation → Chapter
q   Thickness → Chapter
2 - Ribbed bolt, 75 Nm
q   M10×1.25 x 60
q   Always renew
q   To do so, use socket -T40027-
3 - Brake carrier with guide pins and protective caps
q   Replacement carriers are supplied assembled and with sufficient grease on guide pins
q   If protective caps or guide pins are damaged, renew using repair kit. Use grease sachet supplied to lubricate guide pins.
4 - Ribbed bolt, 75 Nm
q   Always renew
q   M10×1.25 x 50
5 - Brake pads
q   Always renew on both sides of axle
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
q   Checking pad thickness: → Booklet803
q   Different versions available → ETKA
6 - Splash plate for brake disc
7 - Flange bolt, 10 Nm
q   M6×12
8 - Self-locking bolt, 35 Nm
q   Always renew
q   When loosening and tightening, counter-hold on guide pin
9 - Brake caliper housing
q   Do not disconnect brake hose when changing brake pads
q   Servicing brake calipers
10 - Wheel bolts
q   Fitting wheels → Wheels and tyres; Rep. Gr.44
11 - Torx bolt
q   Tightening torque: 5 Nm
