  Note
If the vehicle was driven at more than 5 km/h after switching on the ignition and before starting self-diagnosis, “1” is displayed with the vehicle stationary to indicate that at least one vehicle speed signal has been received.

l  Data are transmitted via the convenience data bus system to the control unit in dash panel insert -J285-, from where they are relayed via the drive data bus system to the engine control unit.

  Note
“1” is displayed e.g. for a brief period after switching on ignition or if terminal “15” is not active (no signal received from control unit in dash panel insert -J285-).

4Engine torque required for compressor operation in Nm calculated by operating and display unit, Climatronic control unit -J255- and transmitted to engine control unit (via control unit in dash panel insert -J285-)

l  Data are transferred via the convenience data bus system to the control unit in dash panel insert -J285-. The control unit in dash panel insert -J285- transmits the data via the drive data bus system to the engine control unit.
–  The calculated torque is determined by various factors of influence (refer to note).
 
t  Display = “0....1.0” Nm
–  Compressor off (air conditioning system compressor regulating valve -N280- is not actuated)
–  A torque of less than “1” is displayed if, for example, the operating and display unit, Climatronic control unit -J255- is set to “ECON” mode.
 
t  Display = “1..... XX” Nm
–  Compressor on (air conditioning system compressor regulating valve -N280- is actuated)
 

  Note
The operating and display unit, Climatronic control unit -J255- uses various measured values for calculating compressor torque (e.g. ambient temperature, pressure in refrigerant circuit, engine speed). Depending on these variables, the value calculated may be 1....25 Nm with the compressor switched on. A value of less than 1.0 Nm is displayed if the compressor is switched off.
