Starting final control diagnosis
Starting final control diagnosis
–  Switch off ignition and all electrical equipment.
–  With the ignition switched off, connect up vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 5051A- e.g. with diagnostic wire -VAS 5051/5A- and K-wire adapter -VAS 6017B- (or K-wire adapter -VAS 6017A-) to the 16-pin diagnostic socket in the vehicle and use address word “18” to select the auxiliary heater control unit -J364- → Chapter, → Chapter and → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations.
   
Indicated on display of vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 5051A-:
–  Use address word “18” to select supplementary heater.
–  Interrogate fault memory.

  Note
t  Current input of glow plug for heater -Q9- can be measured as follows for example:
t  Connect current probe of ammeter (e.g. of multimeter -V.A.G 1715-) to positive connection of battery -A-.
t  Set “Current measurement with current probe (measuring range 0 to 10 A)” function on measuring instrument.
–  Select function “03 - Final control diagnosis”.

Indicated on display of vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 5051A-:
t  Display zone -1- shows which control element is currently being actuated (e.g. 1st control element in test).
t  Display zone -2- gives a consecutive list of control elements already actuated and the one currently being actuated. The one currently being actuated appears in the bottom line.
–  Touch → key to select next component. Function and sequence → Chapter
  Note
t  Touch ← key to return to selection program.
t  Final control diagnosis can be terminated by pressing C key.
t  On completion of final control diagnosis, interrogate fault memory.
t  If final control diagnosis is aborted, interrogate fault memory and read measured value block.
