    Heater coolant shut-off valve -N279-
0  Heater coolant shut-off valve -N279- not fitted
–  Encoding for vehicles with 4-cyl. engine
–  The heater coolant shut-off valve -N279- is not intended at present for vehicles with 4-cyl. engine (if a heater coolant shut-off valve -N279- has been fitted, it is not to be actuated).
  1  Heater coolant shut-off valve -N279- fitted
–  Encoding for vehicles with 6-cyl. engine
     Circulation pump -V55-
0 Circulation pump -V55- not fitted
–  Not available at present
   1 Circulation pump -V55- fitted
–  As-delivered vehicle encoding
    Type of undervoltage shutoff
1Undervoltage shutoff as a function of current ambient temperature on the basis of voltage value entered in adaption function
–  As-delivered vehicle encoding
2Undervoltage shutoff at voltage value (fixed value) entered in adaption function
–  Possible customer-specific encoding

  Note
t  At present, the Audi A4 is always fitted with the circulation pump -V55-. For heaters to be introduced at a later date and only to be used as supplementary heaters, the option of operating the auxiliary heater as supplementary heater without a circulation pump is already available.
t  No further encoding options are currently available for the auxiliary heater control unit -J364- in the Audi A4.
t  The current factory encoding for vehicles with 6-cyl. engine is “00111” (with heater coolant shut-off valve -N279-). The encoding for vehicles with 4-cyl. engine is “00011” (no actuation of heater coolant shut-off valve -N279-).
t  At the start of production, vehicles with 4-cyl. engine were fitted with the heater coolant shut-off valve -N279-. However, in view of the fact that cold starting problems may be encountered with these engines at very low ambient temperatures following auxiliary heating operation with a small coolant circuit (engine is only slightly pre-heated), the auxiliary heater control unit -J364- is to be encoded such that the heater coolant shut-off valve -N279- is not actuated.
t  For vehicles with no heater coolant shut-off valve -N279- or vehicles with 4-cyl. engine on which the heater coolant shut-off valve -N279- is not actuated, corresponding adaption of the control unit in dash panel insert -J285- is required (function “Incl. engine pre-heating” must not be displayed) → "Guided fault-finding" function of vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051.
