Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Used oil collection and extraction unit -V.A.G 1782-

Removing
l  Gearbox in vehicle
–  Place used oil collection and extraction unit -V.A.G 1782- under the vehicle.
–  Drain gear oil.
–  Remove gear oil pipes -arrows- and seal openings with plugs.
–  Remove flange shaft (right-side) → Chapter.

–  Remove remaining top bolt securing oil pump cover.
–  Grip oil pump with pliers at stiffening web of oil pump cover and pull out in axial direction.
Installing
Installation is carried out in reverse sequence; note the following:

Renew O-ring.
–  Make sure that input pinion meshes with drive wheel when inserting oil pump.
l  Oil pump cover must make full contact with housing flange.
–  Install flange shaft (right-side) → Chapter.
Tightening torques
  V34-2796

l  1 Renew seals.
