Cleaning ATF pipes and ATF cooler
  Note
t  Always clean ATF cooling pipes and ATF cooler before installing a replacement gearbox.
t  Observe rules for cleanliness when working on automatic gearbox → Chapter.
t  Thoroughly clean all joints and connections and the surrounding areas before dismantling.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Used oil collection and extraction unit -V.A.G 1782-
t  Compressed air gun (commercially available)
t  Hose, approx. 18 mm Ø
t  Safety goggles

Procedure
–  Place used oil collection and extraction unit -V.A.G 1782- underneath.
–  Remove bolt -2-.
–  Pull ATF pipes off gearbox.
–  Connect a hose of approx. 18 mm dia. to ATF pipe -A- and secure with a hose clip. Place other end of hose in used oil collection and extraction unit -V.A.G 1782-.
  WARNING
Wear safety goggles.
–  Blow through ATF pipe -B- using a compressed air line (max. 10 bar).
–  Change hose from ATF pipe -A- over to ATF pipe -B- and repeat sequence.
If the ATF coming out is very dirty:
–  Where fitted, disconnect ATF pipes from auxiliary ATF cooler and flush out cooler with clean ATF.
–  Flush out ATF pipes with clean ATF and blow out ATF pipes once again with compressed air.
–  First push ATF pipes fully into gearbox or cooler by hand, then secure pipes → Chapter.
–  Check and top up ATF level in planetary gearbox → Chapter.
