Removing and installing cover for front final drive
Removing and installing cover for front final drive
Removing
–  Remove flange shaft (left-side) → Chapter.
   
On vehicles in which ATF pipes are routed over cover for front final drive:
–  Unbolt additional ATF filter from gearbox -arrows-.

–  Unbolt bracket for ATF pipes -arrows-.
Continued for all vehicles:
–  Remove cover for front final drive → Servicing multitronic 01J and 0AN; Rep. Gr.39.
Installing
Installation is carried out in reverse sequence; note the following:
Tightening torques: → Chapter „Servicing ATF pipes, ATF cooler and additional ATF filter“
–  Install cover for front final drive → Servicing multitronic 01J and 0AN; Rep. Gr.39.
–  Install flange shaft (left-side) → Chapter.
–  Fill up with gear oil and check gear oil level in front final drive → Chapter.
  Caution
Risk of damage to the gearbox.
The two gearbox versions multitronic 01J and 0AN require different types of gear oil. Only the correct type of gear oil for the respective gearbox (available as a replacement part) may be used in the front final drive → Electronic parts catalogue.
