1 - Cylinder head gasket
q   Renewing → Chapter „Removing and installing cylinder head“
q   Installation position: Part No. towards cylinder head
q   If renewed, refill system with fresh coolant
2 - Cylinder head
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
q   Checking for distortion → Fig.
q   Machining limit → Fig.
q   If renewed, refill system with fresh coolant
3 - Oil deflector
q   Note installation position
4 - Cylinder head bolt
q   Renew
q   Note correct sequence when loosening → Anchor
q   Note correct sequence when tightening → Anchor
5 - Cylinder head cover
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
6 - Ignition coil
7 - Filler cap
8 - Seal
q   Renew if damaged or leaking
9 - 10 Nm
q   Tighten inner nuts first
q   Tighten outer nuts in diagonal sequence
10 - Gaskets for cylinder head cover
q   Renew if damaged or leaking
q   Before fitting, apply sealant at sealing points → Fig. and → Fig.
11 - Gasket
q   Renew
12 - Combination valve for secondary air system
q   With connecting pipe
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
13 - 10 Nm
14 - Coolant flange
q   With coolant temperature sender
15 - 10 Nm
16 - O-ring
q   Renew

   
Checking cylinder head for distortion
–  Use straight edge and feeler gauge to measure for distortion at several points.
l  Maximum permissible distortion: 0.1 mm.

Cylinder head machining limit
–  Machining of the cylinder head (surface grinding) is only permissible down to the minimum dimension -a-.
l  Minimum dimension: -a- = 139.20 mm

Sealing points on double bearing cap/cylinder head
–  Apply small quantity of sealant to transitions -arrows- at top sealing surface of cylinder head; sealant → Parts catalogue.

Sealing points between camshaft adjuster and cylinder head
–  Apply small quantity of sealant to transitions -arrows- at top sealing surface of cylinder head; sealant → Parts catalogue.
