Removing and installing Lambda probe -G39- with Lambda probe heater -Z19- Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Lambda probe open ring spanner set -3337-

Removing –  Unclip cover caps. –  Unscrew nuts -arrows- and detach engine cover panel. Also pull out dipstick if necessary. –  Remove insulation beneath cover panel (if fitted).

–  Remove bolts -arrows-. –  Remove air ducts -1- and -2-.

–  Unplug electrical connector -1- at air mass meter -G70-. –  Loosen hose clip -2- to remove air intake hose. –  Move clear wiring harness at air cleaner housing and remove air cleaner housing -arrow-.

–  Unbolt coolant expansion tank -arrow-. –  Unplug electrical connector for coolant shortage indicator switch -F66- at bottom of expansion tank and move coolant expansion tank to one side with coolant hoses -1- and -2- attached.

–  Unplug electrical connector -1-. –  Move aside fuel hoses at air pipe. –  Remove bolt -2-. –  Remove air pipe -arrows-.

–  Detach electrical connector -4- from bracket on bulkhead (left-side). –  Unplug electrical connector -4- for Lambda probe -G39-. –  Move wiring clear.

–  Unscrew Lambda probe -1- using special tool -3337-.   Note Disregard -item 2-. Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:   Note t  The screw threads on the new Lambda probes are coated with a special assembly paste. t  If re-installing old Lambda probe, coat thread with high-temperature paste: Refer to → Parts catalogue for high-temperature paste. t  The assembly paste/high-temperature paste must not get into the slots on the probe body. t  When installing, the Lambda probe wire must always be reattached at the same locations to prevent it from coming into contact with the exhaust pipe. Tightening torque
