Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Pin wrench -3212-

Removing
  Caution
Observe notes on procedure for disconnecting the battery → Electrical system; Rep. Gr.27.
–  Disconnect earth wire at battery with ignition switched off.
–  Pull dipstick -1- out of guide tube.
–  Unclip cover caps.
–  Unscrew nuts -arrows- and detach engine cover panel.
–  Remove insulation beneath cover.
–  Re-insert dipstick in guide tube.

–  Turn the tensioner in the direction of the -arrow- to slacken the poly V-belt.
–  Remove poly V-belt from alternator pulley.
–  Release pressure from the tensioner.
  Note
The air conditioner poly V-belt remains fitted.

–  Counterhold viscous fan pulley using pin wrench -3212- and unbolt viscous fan from bearing using an 8 mm hexagon key -item 1-.
–  Detach viscous fan from bearing and lay it forwards in radiator cowl.
  A13-0341
–  Remove bolts -arrows-.
–  Remove alternator and lay it aside with wires connected.
–  Take viscous fan out of radiator cowl.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:
–  Place viscous fan in radiator cowl prior to installing alternator.
–  To facilitate positioning of alternator, drive back bushes for securing bolts slightly.
–  Install alternator → Electrical system; Rep. Gr.27
–  Install viscous fan.
–  Install poly V-belt → Anchor.
–  Observe notes on procedures required after connecting battery → Electrical system; Rep. Gr.27.
