Removing and installing exhaust manifold (right-side) with intermediate pipe

Removing   Note All cable ties which are released or cut open when removing must be fitted in the same position when installing. –  Detach air cleaner cover -2-, if fitted. –  Remove air duct -1- going to air cleaner housing.

–  Pull off engine cover panel -arrows-.

–  Unplug electrical connector -1-. –  Slacken hose clip -2-. –  Pull hose -3- off air cleaner housing. –  Unscrew bolt -4- and remove air cleaner housing.

–  Remove air intake pipe between turbocharger and charge air cooler (right-side) -arrows-.

–  Remove front right wheel. –  On vehicles with auxiliary/additional heater, remove bolts -arrows- securing exhaust pipe for auxiliary/additional heater to noise insulation.

–  Release fasteners -1 … 3- and take off front and rear noise insulation.

–  Remove noise insulation -1- in wheel housing (right-side). –  Unbolt drive shaft (right-side) from gearbox flange.

–  First unscrew the nuts for the exhaust manifold and intermediate pipe accessible from below, then unscrew the nuts accessible from above -arrows-. –  Take out exhaust manifold with intermediate pipe upwards. –  Separate exhaust manifold and intermediate pipe if necessary. Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:   Note t  Renew gaskets and self-locking nuts. t  Fit all cable ties in the original positions when installing. t  Hose connections and hoses for charge air system must be free of oil and grease before assembly. t  Secure all hose connections with the correct type of hose clips (same as original equipment) → Parts catalogue. –  Align exhaust system so it is free of stress: vehicles with front-wheel drive → Chapter, vehicles with four-wheel drive → Chapter. Tightening torques
