Removing
–  Remove front left wheel.
–  On vehicles with auxiliary/additional heater, remove bolts -arrows- securing exhaust pipe for auxiliary/additional heater to noise insulation.

–  Release fasteners -1 … 3- and take off front and rear noise insulation.

–  Remove noise insulation -1- in wheel housing (left-side).

–  Unbolt heat shield -arrows- for drive shaft (left-side) -1-.

–  Unbolt front exhaust pipe from starter catalytic converter -1-.

–  Unscrew bolt -arrow- at bracket for front exhaust pipe.

–  Pull off engine cover panel -arrows-.

–  Remove heat shield above turbocharger -arrows-.
  A34-0135
–  Unscrew nuts -1- and remove starter catalytic converter.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:

Renew gaskets and self-locking nuts.
–  Align exhaust system so it is free of stress → Chapter.
Tightening torques

1)  Renew nuts.
2)  Coat with high-temperature lubricant; for high-temperature lubricant refer to → Parts catalogue
