Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Remote control -V.A.G 1348/3A- for V.A.G 1348 with adapter cable -V.A.G 1348/3-2-
t  Hand-held multimeter -V.A.G 1526C-
t  Auxiliary measuring set -V.A.G 1594C-

   
Procedure
Observe test conditions → Chapter.
–  Open fuse box cover on left-hand side of instrument panel.
–  Take out fuse in fuse holder -S228- (left row, 5th large fuse from the top).
–  Connect remote control -V.A.G 1348/3A- for V.A.G 1348 with adapter cable -V.A.G 1348/3-2- to right-hand terminal on socket of fuse -S228-.
–  Connect crocodile clamp to positive (+) terminal of battery.
–  Press remote control button.
l  Pump should run (audible in boot - 2nd mechanic required).
  Note
The fuel pump runs very quietly. Where possible, avoid noisy surroundings for this test.

If no noise can be heard from pump:
–  Remove rear seat bench → Rep. Gr.72.
–  Unscrew cover for flange (right-side) -arrows-.

–  Unplug electrical connector -arrow- at flange.
  A20-10064
–  Connect hand-held multimeter -V.A.G 1526C- between contacts -1- and -4- to measure voltage.
–  Press remote control button.
l  Specification: approx. battery voltage
If specification is not obtained:
–  Eliminate open circuit in wiring (refer to current flow diagram).

If reading matches specification although no noise can be heard from pump:
–  Remove fuel delivery unit → Chapter.
–  Check that the electrical wires between flange and fuel pump are connected and test for continuity.
If no fault is found in wiring, fuel pump is defective. Renew fuel delivery unit.
–  Install fuel delivery unit → Anchor.
