Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Drip tray
   
Removing
Observe safety precautions → Chapter.
Observe rules for cleanliness → Chapter.
–  Remove cover -1- on rear right side of fuel tank.
–  Place drip tray below fuel filter.
  WARNING
The fuel system is pressurised. Before opening the system place a clean cloth around the connection. Then release pressure by carefully loosening the connection.

–  Disconnect fuel pipes -1-, -2- and -4- by pressing the release tabs.
–  Remove bolt -3-.
–  Remove fuel filter.

Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:
Installation position:
l  Flow direction is marked with arrows on filter housing.
l  Connection “IN” for fuel supply pipe -3- must be level with bolted connection on filter bracket -2- on vehicles with front-wheel drive.
Distance between fuel return pipe at fuel filter and fuel tank:
l  Front-wheel drive: -a- = 6 … 10 mm.
l  Four-wheel drive: -a- = 3 … 7 mm.
