Checking ignition system
General notes on ignition system
  • ◆ The engine control unit features self-diagnosis.
  • ◆ A voltage of at least 11.5 V is required for proper operation of electrical components.
  • ◆ Certain tests may lead to a fault being detected by the control unit and stored. The fault memory is therefore to be interrogated and if necessary erased on completion of all tests and repair work.
  • ◆ If engine only starts briefly and then cuts out again after component fault-finding, repair or testing, this may be due to disabling of the engine control unit by the immobilizer. If this is the case, fault memory must be interrogated and control unit adapted if necessary.
