Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331-
Removing
–  Remove rear underbody trim.
Cabriolet models only
–  Remove rear diagonal strut → Chapter.
Vehicles with 2 rear silencers
–  Remove rear section of exhaust system. → Engine, mechanics; Rep. Gr. 26; Removing and installing exhaust system components
Vehicles with heavy-duty suspension
–  Remove stone deflector from trapezium link.
All vehicles (continued):
   
–  Remove bolts -1-.
–  Remove bolts -2-. Counterhold joint with open-end spanner.
–  Remove bolts -3-.
–  Remove anti-roll bar with bushes.

Installing
–  Rubber bush must make contact with collar -arrow- on anti-roll bar.
  A42-0280
–  Fit bolts -3- and initially tighten hand-tight only.
–  Fit and tighten bolts -2- → Item.
–  Fit and tighten bolts -1- → Item.
–  Lower vehicle onto its wheels and bounce suspension several times.
–  Tighten bolts -3- to specified torque → Item.
Vehicles with heavy-duty suspension
–  Install stone deflector and tighten bolts → Item.
Vehicles with 2 rear silencers
–  Install and align exhaust system → Engine, mechanics; Rep. Gr. 26; Removing and installing exhaust system components.
Cabriolet models only
–  Install rear diagonal strut → Chapter.
All vehicles (continued):
–  Install rear underbody trim.
