| Pull out servotronic control unit -J236-, position 2. |
| –
| Set digital multimeter -V.A.G 1526- to resistance test range (up to 200 Ohm). |
| –
| Measure between contacts 2 and 5 at plug connector for control unit. |
| Specification: 5 to 20 Ohm. |
| If specification is not attained: |
| –
| Detach electrical connector for servotronic solenoid valve (in wheel housing on left side). |
| –
| If electrical wiring is OK up as far as connector (in wheel housing on left-side), remove steering box. |
| –
| Vehicles with moulded connecting cable on servotronic solenoid valve: renew solenoid valve. |
| –
| Vehicles not fitted with moulded connecting cable on servotronic solenoid valve: unplug connector and check for short circuit or open circuit in connecting cable. |
| –
| If connecting cable is OK, renew servotronic solenoid valve. |
