Removing and installing steering column electronics control unitJ527
Removing and installing steering column electronics control unit -J527-
–  When renewing control unit, select appropriate control unit in “Guided Functions” mode → Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051.
–  Remove steering column switch module → Chapter.
   
Removing
  Note
Return ring with slip ring must be removed/installed in centre position (wheels in straight ahead position).
–  Carefully release retaining hooks -arrows-.
–  Detach return ring with slip ring -2- with steering angle sender -G85--item 1- from steering column switch module.

–  Unscrew bolts -arrows-.
–  Detach steering column electronics control unit -J527--item 1- from steering column switch module.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:
–  Make sure all fasteners and the electrical connectors are properly engaged.
–  Install steering column switch module → Anchor.
Steering column electronics control unit -J527- must be re-encoded after renewing → Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051.
