Cover for boot lid hinge

• ‒ → Insert electrical wiring or line for central locking system -4- into lower retainer of cable guide on cover -1-.
• ‒ Attach cover -3- for boot lid hinge from below between gas-filled strut -5- and hinge lever, and clip onto hinge lever -2- at the top so it engages audibly.

Removing and installing boot lid hinge

• ‒ → Loosen nut -1- on left and right.
  Tightening torque 21 Nm.
• ‒ Unscrew nut -2- on left and right.
  Tightening torque 21 Nm.
• ‒ Support boot lid using a second person or other suitable means.

• ‒ Remove bolts -5- (2x).
  Tightening torque 21 Nm.
• ‒ → Lift boot lid slightly and remove hinge -4-.

Note:

The scales -3- and -8- facilitate boot lid hinge adjustment when adjusting the boot lid.

Removing and installing gas-filled strut

• ‒ → Use screwdriver to slightly prise away spring catch -7- and unclip/clip in gas-filled strut.

Note:

When removing or installing gas-filled strut, push back the opened boot lid slightly without damaging components.

Installation:

• ‒ Clip in gas-filled strut at bottom first, then at top.
• ‒ The tube end of strut goes towards boot lid.

Releasing gas from gas-filled strut

• ‒ Clamp gas-filled strut in vice in area x = 50 mm.
• ‒ Saw open cylinder of gas-filled strut in first third of overall cylinder length, starting from reference edge on piston-rod end.

Note:

Goggles must be worn during sawing. It is also appropriate to cover the area around the saw-cut with a cloth to catch any escaping fluid.
