• ‒ Removing side window .
• ‒ Removing and installing outer B-pillar trim .
• ‒ Pull off door seals in area of roof trim strip.

Removal:

• ‒ → Prise masking strip -2- out of roof trim strip -1-.
• ‒ Drill off rivets -3- and detach roof trim strip -1-.

Installation:

A = 0.2 + 0.5 mm

B = 2.5 + 0.5 mm

C = 1 + 0.5 mm

• ‒ Dimensions must be adhered to.

• ‒ → Start by riveting on roof trim strip -1- in area of upper B-pillar at arrows to centre it.
• ‒ Then rivet on to front and rear.
• ‒ Use special tool V.A.G 1617 B to fit rivets.

Note:

If paintwork is damaged when drilling off rivet, make good the paint coating as specified in the vehicle paintwork Workshop Manual and apply corrosion protection if necessary as described in the "Surface Treatment/Chemical Materials" binder.

• ‒ Clip in masking strip -2- starting at front and working to rear.
