Note:

When removing a window, always wear protective goggles and leather gloves.

• ‒ Remove rear shelf.

=> General Body Assembly, Interior; Repair group 70

• ‒ Unplug or unscrew connections for heated rear window and rear window aerial.
• ‒ Press connections onto windowpane directed towards centre of vehicle.
• ‒ → Using an awl, pierce a hole in the adhesive sealing material from inside of vehicle in bottom corner of rear window until awl eyelet is visible on the outside.
• ‒ Insert cutting cord into eyelet of awl and pull it into inside of vehicle.

• ‒ → Feed cutting cord into winding device and secure.
• ‒ Lay cutting cord around rear window as shown.
• ‒ At upper edge of window, press cutting thread below cover strip.

• ‒ → Place end of cutting cord around stop buffer -arrow- and secure with boot lid hinge securing bolts.

• ‒ → Cut free first section.

• ‒ → Move winding device to next position as shown and attach relay pulley in lower corner of window.
• ‒ Route cutting cord as illustrated.
• ‒ Cut out window glass up to the point where thread no longer runs in relay pulley.

• ‒ → Remove guide pulley and continue cutting out window.

• ‒ → Move winding device to next position as shown and attach relay pulley in upper corner of window.
• ‒ Route cutting cord as illustrated.
• ‒ Cut out window glass up to the point where thread no longer runs in relay pulley.
• ‒ Insert protective cover V.A.G 1474/12 between rear window and moulded headlining.

• ‒ → Remove guide pulley and continue cutting out window.
• ‒ Now repeat these steps in the top right and bottom right corners of the window.
• ‒ Cut out the window glass completely according to these steps.
• ‒ Use double suction holders to remove window.
