Repairing passenger airbag
Removing and installing passenger's airbag
  • Passenger's airbag unit
  • ◆ Removing
Important
    • ‒ Disconnect battery/earthing strap/cable.
    • ‒ Remove glove compartment
    • ‒ Detaching connector (tunnel connector on left behind airbag unit) => Fig.:1

Important
Never detach connector (2-pin, red) at passenger airbag unit!
    • ‒ Start by unscrewing the two retaining brackets -4-.
    • ‒ Then unscrew the two retaining brackets -3-.
    • ‒ Unscrew bolts -2- at passenger's airbag.
    • ‒ Remove airbag unit.
    • ‒ Set down airbag unit with padding facing upwards.

Note:

Dash panel must be replaced whenever passenger's airbag has been triggered.

  • ◆ Installing
    • ‒ Installing airbag unit.
    • ‒ Ensure connector -6- engages properly (audibly).

    • ‒ Switch ignition on.
WARNING!
Ensure that no-one is in the vehicle.
    • ‒ Connect battery earthing strap.
  • Bolts (2x)
    • ‒ Tightening torque 9 Nm
    • ◆ Must be replaced after airbag triggering.
  • Support
    • ◆ Must be replaced after airbag triggering.

  • Bracket

  • ‒ Use screwdriver to lift connector -1- for passenger's airbag over retainer tab -2- and unplug connector in direction of arrow -3-.
