Removing and installing components of the ABS/ESP system
Removing and installing lateral acceleration sender -G200 and yaw rate sender -G202

Sender -G202 may also be installed in a joint housing with sender -G200.

Removing

  • ‒ Note radio code on vehicles with coded radio; if necessary ask for it.

  • ‒ Removing rear seat

=> General Body Assembly, Interior; Repair group 72; Rear seats; Removing and installing rear seat bench

  • ‒ Item 2 yaw rate sender

→ Yaw rate sender -G202 is located underneath the driver's seat.

    • It measures the vehicle's rotation about the vertical axis (yaw rate).
    • Tightening torque for bolts 5 Nm.

→ Lateral acceleration sender -G200

  • ‒ Item 3 Control unit for ultrasonic sensors -J347
    • To remove lateral acceleration sensor -G200, first remove control unit for ultrasonic sensors -J347; see arrows.

Tightening torque of screws 2 Nm.

→ Lateral acceleration sensor -G200 following removal of ultrasonic sensor control unit -J347.

Caution.

Lateral acceleration sensor is sensitive to impact.

If the sensor has been dropped by mistake it may not work properly and must not be installed into the vehicle. Do not use the sensor again.

Tightening torque of screws 2 Nm.

Installing

The remaining installation steps are carried out in the reverse sequence:

  • ‒ Installing rear seat

=> General Body Assembly, Interior; Repair group 72; Rear seats; Removing and installing rear seat bench

  • ‒ Enter radio code.
