‒ → Disconnect brake pipes -1- from brake master cylinder and seal brake pipes with plugs from repair kit, Part No. 1H0 698 311 A.

‒ Unscrew nuts -2- from brake master cylinder.

‒ Carefully remove brake master cylinder from brake servo unit.
Pay special attention to the following on installation:

‒ When fitting together the brake master cylinder and brake servo unit, ensure that the push rod is correctly located in the brake master cylinder.

‒ Apply slight pressure to the brake pedal in order to move the push rod towards brake master cylinder; this makes it easier to guide brake master cylinder onto the push rod.
Note:
On RHD models the following additional operations also need to be carried out.

‒ Pull off plenum chamber seal
-
‒ Unclip wiring loom
-
‒ When removing the brake master cylinder, pull the wiring loom up and take the brake master cylinder out of the brake servo unit.
Bleeding clutch hydraulic system:

‒ Connect V.A.G 1869 but do not switch on yet.

‒ Open bleeder screw on slave cylinder.
-
‒ Attach collector bottle hose.

‒ Switch on the bleeding appliance and allow about 100 cm3 of brake fluid to flow out of the clutch slave cylinder.

‒ Close bleed screw.
