Dismantling and assembling gearbox
Rules for cleanliness when working on the automatic gearbox
-
◆ Thoroughly clean connections and the surrounding area before disconnecting.
-
◆ Place removed parts on a clean surface and cover over. Use plastic sheeting or paper. Do not use fluffing cloths.
-
◆ Carefully cover over or plug opened components if the repair cannot be completed immediately.
-
◆ Install only clean parts: do not remove replacement parts from their wrapping until just before installing.
-
◆ Always replace O-rings, seals and gaskets.
-
◆ Lightly lubricate O-rings with ATF before fitting to prevent the rings being trapped and damaged when components are installed.
-
◆ Do not use any other lubricants in or on components that are lubricated with ATF. Otherwise, problems may occur with the hydraulic actuation of the gearbox.
-
◆ After installing, check the gear oil level and ATF level. Top up if necessary.
