• ◆ Inserter 10-203
• ◆ Oil seal extractor 3240
• ◆ Counterhold T10051
• ◆ Puller T10052
• ◆ Bolt M12x65

Removing

• ● Engine in position
• ● Lock carrier in service position =>Page 13-1.

• ‒ Remove toothed belt => Page 13-36.
• ‒ → Screw out camshaft sprocket bolts -1-.
• ‒ Detach camshaft sprocket from hub.

• ‒ → Slacken hub bolt -1-. Use counterhold T10051.
• ‒ Screw out hub bolt approx. 2 turns.

• ‒ → Position puller T10052 and screw bolts -1- into hub.
• ‒ Detach hub by bracing against hexagon (A/F 30) of puller and screw in bolt -2-.
• ‒ Detach hub from camshaft cone.

• ‒ Position inner section of oil seal extractor 3240 flush with outer section and lock with knurled screw.
• ‒ → Lubricate threaded end of oil seal extractor, fit in position and screw firmly into oil seal as far as possible.
• ‒ Slacken off knurled screw and turn inner section against camshaft until oil seal is pulled out.
• ‒ Clamp flats of oil seal extractor in vice. Use pliers to remove oil seal.
• ‒ Clean contact and sealing surface.

Installing

Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:

Note:

The sealing lip of the oil seal must not be additionally oiled or greased.

• ‒ Remove oil residues from the camshaft journal using a clean cloth.
• ‒ Seal off the groove on the camshaft cone (e.g. with adhesive tape).
• ‒ Fit oil seal carefully on camshaft.

• ‒ → Press oil seal all the way in using thrust piece of inserter 10-203 and bolt M12x65.

• ‒ Mount hub on camshaft.
• ‒ → Tighten bolt -1- to 100 Nm, bracing with counterhold T10051.

• ‒ → Push camshaft sprocket onto hub.

Note:

The tooth segment -arrow- of the camshaft sprocket must be at the top.

• ‒ Screw bolts -1- in hand-tight.
• ‒ Arrest hub with rig pin 3359.

• ‒ Fit toothed belt (adjust valve timing) => Page 13-44.
