  • ● Lock carrier must be in service position .

Removing

Note:

Mark direction of rotation of belt with chalk or felt pen before removing ribbed belt. If the belt rotates in the wrong direction when it is refitted, this can cause breakage.

Vehicles with air conditioner:

  • ‒ → Loosen bolts securing ribbed belt tensioner for A/C compressor -arrows-, slacken belt and remove.

All models:

  • ‒ → To slacken ribbed belt, turn tensioning element in direction of arrow.
  • ‒ Remove ribbed belt and release tensioning element.

Installing

  • ‒ Fit ribbed belt over crankshaft pulley, coolant pump pulley, viscous fan pulley, vane pump pulley and tensioning element.

  • ‒ → Turn ribbed belt tensioning element in direction of arrow.
  • ‒ Fit ribbed belt over alternator pulley last. Release tensioning element.

Note:

Ensure that ribbed belt is properly seated on the pulleys when installing.

  • ‒ Check that ribbed belt is properly seated.

Vehicles with air conditioner:

  • ‒ Fit ribbed belt for A/C compressor.
    • ‒ Ribbed belt routing => Page 13-17
 
A13-0008
  • ‒ → Apply torque wrench as shown to hexagon on tensioner and tension with a torque of 25 Nm.
  • ‒ At the same time, tighten bolts -A- to 20 Nm.

All models:

  • ‒ Start engine and check belt running.
