Removing and installing cylinder head

Removing

  • ‒ Remove engine cover.
  • ‒ Pull retaining clamp off crankcase breather hose.
  • ‒ Pull off crankcase breather hose.
  • ‒ Remove upper toothed belt guard.
  • ‒ Loosen nuts on cylinder head cover.
  • ‒ Detach reinforcement strips, bracket, toothed belt guard and cylinder head cover onwards.

Installing

Installation is carried out in the reverse order, when doing this note the following:

Note:

Renew cylinder head cover gasket and O-ring for crankcase breather if damaged.

  • ‒ Carefully apply a thin coat of sealant "D 454 300 A2" to both sides of sealing surface between bearing cap and cylinder head -arrows- using a small screwdriver.

  • ‒ → Carefully apply a thin coat of sealant "D 454 300 A2" to both sides of sealing surface -arrows- using a small screwdriver.
  • ‒ Position cylinder head cover, reinforcement strips, toothed belt guard and bracket.
  • ‒ Tighten nuts for cylinder head cover in diagonal sequence.
