Removing and installing combination valve for secondary air system > < Checking combination valve for secondary air system for proper operation and leakage
Test sequence
   
Test sequence
–  Take off engine cover panel -arrows-.
  Note!
Illustration shows vehicle with engine code letters ANA.

–  Detach air cleaner cover -arrow-.
  A13-0368
–  Detach hose -2- for crankcase breather system at air pipe.
–  Watch out for O-ring when removing.
–  Detach vacuum hose -1-.
–  Remove air pipe -arrows-.
  A15-1055
–  Detach vacuum hose -1- at combination valve.
–  Connect the hand vacuum pump -V.A.G 1390- to vacuum connection of combination valve.
–  Remove heat insulation mat.
–  Disconnect hose -2- at pipe leading to combination valve for secondary air.
–  Blow gently into pipe (do not use compressed air).
l  The combination valve must be closed; blowing through must not be possible.
–  Operate the hand vacuum pump.
l  The combination valve should open; it should now be possible to blow through the hose.
If the combination valve does not open:
–  Renew combination valve → Chapter.
