‒ → Using 8 mm hexagon key, turn toothed belt tensioning roller -1- slowly and with constant firm pressure in direction of arrow, so that holes -2- in tensioner piston and housing are aligned.

‒ With the tensioner in this position, insert a suitable retaining pin (such as a 2 mm drill bit or nail) into the two holes.

‒ Take off toothed belt.
Note:
Do not loosen bolt -3-.

Notes:

◆ The position of the toothed belt must be set as described below, even after repairs in which the belt is only taken off the camshaft sprocket.

◆ The crankshaft must not be at TDC at any cylinder when the camshaft is turned. Otherwise there is a risk of damage to valves and piston crowns.

◆ The setting can be performed with engine cold or engine warm.
