Separating centre and rear silencers Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Chain-type pipe cutter -VAS 6254- The connecting pipe can be cut through at the cutting point provided in order to renew the centre and rear silencers separately.   Note Cutting location is also marked by an indentation on circumference of exhaust pipe.

Procedure - vehicles with front-wheel drive: –  Cut through exhaust pipe at a right angle at cutting point using chain-type pipe cutter -VAS 6254-. l  Dimension -a- = approx. 182 mm.

–  When reassembling, position the clamp centrally over the cutting points. –  Install clamp so that ends of bolts do not protrude beyond bottom of clamp. l  Bolt connection faces to left. –  Align exhaust system free of stress → Chapter.

Procedure - vehicles with four-wheel drive: –  Cut through exhaust pipe at a right angle at cutting point -arrow- using chain-type pipe cutter -VAS 6254-.

–  When reassembling, position the clamp -1- centrally over the cutting point.

–  Install clamp so that ends of bolts do not protrude beyond bottom of clamp. l  Bolt connection faces to left. –  Align exhaust system free of stress → Chapter.
