Basic setting
Basic setting

With engine stopped and ignition switched on, the following operation can be carried out with the "Function 04" basic setting:

  • ◆ Adaption of the throttle valve control unit to the engine control unit=> Display Group 60
    ()

With the engine running, the following operations can be performed with the basic setting function:

  • ◆ Learning process of the Lambda control
  • ◆ Fault finding by selective activation and deactivation of the Lambda control => Display Group 99

Test conditions for operations with engine running

  • ● No faults stored in fault memory
  • ● Coolant temperature at least 80 oC.
  • ● Electrical consumers switched off (radiator fan must not run during the test)

Test sequence

  • ‒ Connect up vehicle diagnosis, measurement and information system VAS 5051 or fault reader V.A.G 1551 and select engine electronics control unit with "Address word" 01 .
    When doing this the engine must be running at idle speed
  • ‒ Interrogate fault memory . The fault memory must be clear. If necessary, rectify any faults and erase the fault memory. Switch off the engine, then start up again. Take vehicle for a test drive and interrogate the fault memory again to make sure it is clear.
  • ‒ Leave engine idling.

  • ‒ Enter "04" to select "Start basic setting" and confirm with Q key.

Enter display group number XXX
  • ‒ Enter the required display group number.

Example:

  • ‒ Enter "000" to select "Display Group 000" and confirm entry with the Q key.

Notes:

  • ◆ In display group 000 the measured values are shown in decimal form.
  • ◆ If the printer is switched on, the current display can be printed out on the record slip.
  • ‒ Run engine at idling speed for a few minutes, coolant temperature at least 80 oC.
  • ‒ If all the display zones show the specified values, press the ⇒ key.
