Note:

When the engine control unit is disconnected the learned values are erased but the contents of the fault memory remain intact.

Removing engine control unit

• ‒ Connect fault reader V.A.G 1551 and select engine electronics control unit .

• ‒ Always start by calling up the control unit identification on the display and printing it out.
• ‒ Check the coding against the list of coding variants.
• ‒ Press the⇒key.

• ‒ Switch off ignition.
• ‒ Remove plenum chamber cover.

• ‒ Remove cover on electronics box in plenum chamber.
• ‒ → Carefully lever off the retainer bar with a screwdriver -arrow-.
• ‒ Release catches and unplug control unit connectors.

Installing engine control unit

Installation is performed in the reverse sequence.

Note:

During the initial learning phase of the basic setting operation for the engine the idling may be slightly rough and the engine may pull a little unevenly.

• ‒ Interrogate and erase fault memory.
• ‒ Code control unit => Page 01-90.
• ‒ Perform adaption of throttle valve control part
  => Page 24-91.
• ‒ Perform adaption of engine control unit to immobilizer control unit
